About O.D.D.

GLS Institute of Design proudly presents ODD (Open Design Dimensions), International competition a dynamic design competition aimed at promoting creativity and innovation among young professionals and school students from class 10th-12th. ODD offers a unique platform to showcase talent across categories like AI-Generated Graphic Narrative, Photography, Short Films and Poster Design. Designed to inspire interdisciplinary learning and artistic experimentation, it also invites visitors to explore the possibilities of outcomes in these areas, creating an atmosphere of liberating creativity and a space for all to evolve. This initiative strengthens GLSID’s presence in the creative education space and nurtures the next generation of designers.

Participation

Participant Categories:
  1. School students upto Class 12th pan India. Entry Fees: ₹ 250/- per competition
  2. Amateurs (University/College Student/Professional or Subject Enthusiast) under the age of 28. Entry Fees: ₹ 500/- per competition

Prize

  1. Exciting Cash Prizes to the Winners of each Category.
  2. Certificates to all the participants.
  3. Opportunity to display work to esteemed International and National jury panels.

Submission

Registration & Submission for all competition starts on 24th September, 2024 and ends on 15th December, 2024. The participants are advised to register first and then submit their entries before the deadline. Please check the Competition Process below.

AI Graphic Narrative Competition

Generate AI images and create a 5 frame graphic narrative on any one of the given topics with an original storyline.

For School Students

Photography Competition

Upto 3 single enries in the given genre. Photos from Phone or camera in 6*10, or 8*12 High Res Print format.

Short Film Competition

Showcase original stories, diverse perspectives, and innovative filmmaking, followed by screenings, discussions, and interactive sessions. 

For School Students

Shorts films in any genre up to 20 minutes.

For Amateurs
  1. Short fiction upto 30 minutes.
  2. Non - Fiction upto 30 minutes.
  3. Short animation upto 15 minutes.

1 Single Poster Design, of A2 size on the given theme.

Yes! ODD welcomes entries from around the globe.

Yes, you can. In that case, a participant has to register choosing the multiple categories they want to participate in. The participation fees has to be paid for each category a participant has registered for. Eg. as a School Student, if you want to participate in Poster Design and Photography Competitions then you have to pay Rs. 500 (250+250).

All participants will receive an email with submission details and a link after a few days of registration. The submission has to be done online via a given link in the email using the same registration details and email address. Make sure the submission is done according to the submission guidelines given in the respective Competition Guidelines document.

The registration in ODD is free. The Participation Fee for each entry is Rs. 250 (USD 3) for School Student Category, Rs. 500 (USD 6) for Amateur Category, and has to be paid online during submission of entry. You will receive an email with your Participation ID, Payment Details and Submission Link after registration.

The participant / team leader has to sign a Copyright Declaration, which is legally binding. The declaration will help protect your rights as a creator and our rights as a platform. This declaration will be provided to the participant / team leader after registration and through email along with submission and payment information. Any participant / team leader not submitting the same will be disqualified.

Yes. It is compulsory to have your work based on the given theme / topic or your selected theme / topic during the registration process from options given by us.

Team is only allowed in the Short Film Competition Category. The team should have 1 team leader and maximum of 5 Team Members. Each Team Member will receive a certificate of participation.

The standard time for the challenge will be Indian Standard Time.

The competitions are completely online and you can work remotely on your entries. You can participate from the comfort of your home and submit through the submission form. The exhibition & screening of all entries (as mentioned in the process) is going to be held offline at GLS Institute of Design campus for 3 days (19 December 2024 to 21 December 2024).

If your entry is shortlisted, you’ll receive an email for the same and details about further procedure. All shortlisted entries will be exhibited or screened during a 3 day event at GLSID campus in Ahmedabad. It is recommended that you attend at least the last day of the event at the campus. If none of your entries are shortlisted, you can still attend the 3 day event by visiting GLSID campus.

Yes, the event is open to all visitors. Any external visitors, non-participants and peers of participants are allowed to attend the 3 day ODD event during the designated time of the event.

About GLSID

GLS Institute of Design is a prominent Institute under GLS University, Ahmedabad offering Design courses pertaining to various creative fields. The Institute of Design offers 4 years of Bachelors of Design Programme and 5 years Integrated Masters of Design Programme with specialization in the areas of Fashion, Communication, Product and Environment & Space Design. The Institute follows the philosophy of Connecting Dots, where most of our Alumni’s are already out in the professional world and also many have gone abroad for their advanced studies. They all are doing exceptionally well in their specialised fields of Design. With time, we have grown from strength to strength. Today, we have a faculty strength of 30 full-time members.
